I am selling my Metrum Octave digital to analogue converter (DAC). It is a non-oversampling DAC with a very clean, detailed, \'analogue\' sound. It has received extremely good reviews. One example can be downloaded from the \'hificritic\' web site. Search for \'Colloms Metrum Octave Review\'.
This one is supplied with an upgraded \'super\' power supply from a specialist supplier. The transformer is around three times the size of the original and the power supply gives the impression of being heavy and purposeful. The sonic benefits, are a wider sound stage, more depth, and deeper more solid bass.
The DAC was specified by the manufacturer to work up to 176 kHz but some were found to work reliably at 192 kHz. This one plays 192 kHz music files without problem and has done since I bought it. I can demonstrate the playback of 192 kHz files if required.
With suitable distancing, you are welcome to listen to the unit in my system.
Given the ability to play 192 kHz and the significant sonic benefits of the upgraded power supply, I believe the asking price is very fair.
