Description
Hi,
We are a family of three looking for a live-in Mothers Help for minimum 1 year. We have one daughter aged 6, who is lively, cheeky and often very funny. During school time she attends a local Primary School which is an approx. 15 minute walk from our home.
We live on the outskirts of the peaceful and scenic county town of Hertford , which is about 40 minutes from London by train. There are two train stations in Hertford, the nearest approx. a 15 minute walk from our home, meaning Central London is easily accessible in under an hour.
We require a live-in Mother's Help to work Monday - Friday. The hours would be generally from 7.30 am - 9.30 am (up to school drop off), with various housework tasks being done during the day (see below), and collection of our daughter from school at 3.05 pm. We are normally home by 5.30 p.m. when we would sit down to eat dinner together as a family. We normally bath and put our daughter to bed after dinner. Daily routines obviously change during school holidays, but the total working hours would never exceed 40 hours per week.
In the morning the first task of the day is waking our daughter, giving her breakfast, washing and dressing her ready for school (unless school holidays of course). There would then be a short walk (or bike ride / scooter ride!) to school.
We live in a large four bedroom house which we like to be kept clean and tidy. Therefore, during the day we would expect the housework jobs to be carried out to a high standard as required, including: washing up; dusting; cleaning; laundry; ironing; changing bed sheets. We would agree the schedule of jobs required to be completed, but would be flexible as to how the schedule is completed over a working week.
After collection of our daughter from school, the Mother's Help will need to give our daughter a snack, and then assist with any homework / study support, play, and generally entertain our daughter until we get home. Although we allow our daughter to watch some TV, we are keen to avoid her sitting in front of the TV all afternoon until dinner and / or bedtime.
The Mother's Help would normally prepare the evening meal for the family, which would be agreed in advance. Duties for the day finish after dinner, unless evening additional child minding has been requested and agreed in advance (very rarely required to be honest).
We do not need a car driver as the Primary School is within walking distance and we would carry out the main family shop each week. Our Mothers Help would be expected to purchase essential food items from local shops (on route to school) as required during the week (e.g. bread / milk).
In return for all this we will offer £150 per week, plus accommodation / meals. The Mother's Help will have their own bedroom and shared use of the rest of our large house and garden. There is also a summer house with gym equipment that is available to be used anytime outside of working hours.
About us:
We are a professional couple, both working full time. Our daughter is a very unique character, polite, funny, intelligent and interested in everything, but especially swimming, watching films, playing and having fun. She is progressing well at school and we have recently enrolled her on a study support programme to compliment the school work she is completing. We are looking for somebody who will be willing to continue progress against this study support programme (approx. 45 minutes - 4 days a week - before dinner)
I believe we are a flexible, fair, easy-going, and fun family. We have the support of our parents but they are either too old or too far away to look after our daughter on a full time basis.
The person we are looking to fill this position must be:
• Fluent in English
• Honest
• Kind
• Caring
• Fun
• Love children and animals (we have goldfish, a cat and two rabbits!)
• Hardworking
• Outgoing
• Reliable
• Flexible
• Confident
• Organised
• Experienced in child care
• Non-Smoking
We would like our Mother's Help to be outgoing but at the same time respect our home. Most importantly we would like to be comfortable around them and them the same around us, integrating into our family life as much as possible.
We are happy to accept applications from all nationalities, but expect good levels of verbal and written English.
We can hold Skype interviews but ideally would prefer to meet people in person if possible. References are essential and a DBS check will also be requested.
Please apply enclosing your CV and a supporting statement of why you think you would be suitable for this role. We need to replace our current Mother's Help by the end of July 2016 if possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this advert.
