Description
Here at OceanSeen we handcraft necklaces using a piece (or pieces) of beautiful sea glass as the focal feature. We find our glass on the beaches of North Norfolk and only use the most eye-catching pieces in our bespoke jewellery. All our sea glass is genuine glass, some colours of which are quite rare.
Each piece is individually designed and crafted and you can rest assured nobody else will have one the same. They are on adjustable cord necklaces and each one is priced the same, the price reflecting the size of the glass or the amount of work involved in drilling the glass and creating the unique piece itself.
Please visit our Facebook to see the new range of jewellery added daily. You're bound to find something that you will either like yourself or see suitable as a gift for a loved one.
As our glass is completely genuine sea glass it will contain natural inclusions and marks. Sea glass begins as normal shards of broken glass that are then persistently tumbled and ground until the sharp edges are smoothed and rounded. In this process, the glass loses its slick surface but gains a frosted appearance over many years. Sea Glass is also known as Mermaids Tears. Naturally produced sea glass ("genuine sea glass") originates as pieces of glass from broken bottles, broken tableware, or even shipwrecks, which are rolled and tumbled in the ocean for years until all of their edges are rounded off, and the slickness of the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance.
Uncommon colours of sea glass include a type of green, which comes primarily from early to mid-1900s Coca-Cola, Dr Pepper, and RC Cola bottles as well as beer bottles. Soft green colours could come from bottles that were used for ink, fruit, and baking soda. These colours are found once in every 50 to 100 pieces.
