WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE ARE AIMING TO DO:
Scotia Youth is aiming to create a brand new unique and innovative youth work organisation that aims to provide fresh, vibrant, fun, engaging and inspiring youth work to young people aged 11 to 25 years old across Scotland that empowers young people through activities, programmes and events that; UNITE young people and communities for a more equal and tolerant society, EDUCATE young people in life and work skills, social issues and personal development, EMPOWER a generation of Scottish young people to become successful, confident, effective and responsible, and CHANGE the negative stereotypes society can have of young people by promoting the good that young people do.
Youth work changes lives and we believe it’s our job to create a strong, responsive and imaginative youth organisation that puts young people at the heart of what we do and put them in charge of what they want to do, learn and achieve, by giving them the tools and opportunities to contribute to their communities, the wider society, their nation and the wider world.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
As a new voluntary run organisation we are looking for a volunteer who is self-motivated, forward thinking, solution focused and a creative individual with great people, communications and presentation skills, who have a passion for research and the development of young people and wants to help us transform the lives of young people and the way youth work is done in Scotland, by supporting the development of this new youth work organisation by leading on research that will help us with funding applications and provide evidence of the need of our existence.
THE ROLE:
We are looking to recruit a Researcher who can use the internet to gather information, research and evidence of the need for a youth organisation in Scotland that provides youth work and programmes to young people aged 11 to 25 years old, especially in Edinburgh and urban areas. We are also looking for someone to pull together surveys/questionnaires for young people and service providers/stakeholders to support us in shaping our services as well as providing evidence of need.
You will also then pull all the data together into a Needs Analysis/Evidence Report that will be published on our website and will also accompany our funding applications to provide evidence of need.
You will be credited as an Independent Researcher on the Report and also in our Annual Report 2016/17.
This role offers flexibility in days and times to suit your availability and time commitments and you will be required to manage your own workload and time.
We would also consider recruiting more than one volunteer if you feel that you would like assistance in this role.
