They are currently looking to recruit for an Assembly Supervisor to manage the Assembly Shops for the standard and non-standard ranges of the company effectively motivating and managing the workforce, ensuring supply of materials and organisation of the department to meet the customer needs and company targets. You will be required to manage final assembly of the whole company's product range. Manage the platform section, sub-assembly, runner and electrical areas.
Production
Production Planning:
* Guarantee the daily KPI's: Output, Delivery, Quality
* Layout work for the week based on needs of the Customer ensuring timing of supply supports their achievement of production deadlines and customer need.
* Ensure that requests for materials from Supply Shops are made with enough lead-time for efficient utilisation of their resources.
* Ensure that requests from the NPC and Despatch are met in a timely fashion.
* Lead daily production meeting to follow up performance
Continuous Improvement:
* Continuously review processes within the Assembly Shops to identify potential cost and/or time improvements, submitting ECNs or Employee Voice requests as appropriate.
* Actively encourage direct reports to review processes to identify potential improvements and to submit suggestions via ECN, CAR or Employee Voice procedures.
* Maintain adequate level of discipline
Health & Safety:
* Guarantee that health & safety standards are observed and respected within the department at all times.
* Act as Fire Warden for the Department
* Conduct monthly safety inspections with the Safety Representative.
* Ensure that all risk assessments for processes, tools and machinery within assembly are complete and up to date.
Housekeeping
* Maintain a reasonably clean and tidy work area at all times ensuring that inappropriate items are not displayed.
Lean Manufacturing
* Maintain the work area in the light of lean manufacturing initiatives and actively promote the lean manufacturing philosophy.
* Solve problems respecting PDCA methodology
Materials
* Make sure to respect Kanban rules
* Ordering supplies of fabrication consumables i.e. welding wire, etc.
Leadership & Management
People Development
* Lead by example
* Develop and maintain a team ethos that is supportive, encouraging and conducive to high performance.
* Conduct regular, structured performance appraisals for direct reports and ensure they are conducted for subordinate staff by the appropriate Chargehand.
* Identify training needs within department ensuring that individual's job satisfaction and the department's skills base are addressed.
* Provide regular constructive feedback to all direct reports on their performance and contribution to the department- Effective Communication
* Maintain a record of the skills of all employees in conjunction with HR.
Resource Management
* Maintenance of Trutime
* Lateness monitoring - taking action to investigate and address issues.
* Capacity planning.
* Control of annualised hours.
* Control of unauthorised/unpaid absence.
* Check and distribute monthly timesheets ensuring that any issues are addressed and the system updated.
* Monitor and manage sickness absence levels seeking support from HR for corrective action as necessary.
Recruitment
* Identify recruitment needs in liaison with Operations Manager and Human Resources.
* Carry out interviews ensuring that appropriate skills tests (i.e. welding) are conducted.
* Make decisions on selection of new employees.
* Make decisions on promotion/recruitment to Chargehand or Cell Leader positions in conjunction with Production Manager.
